Why I Love Photography

April 19, 2015

I’ve been challenging myself to figure out why I like doing things. It takes a lot of contemplation for me to figure out the answer. I was asked to write a paper about why I love flying for my university 101 class, and I couldn’t explain it for the love of my life. I just love it. The other day my friend who’s girlfriend (who lives half way across the world in Australia) was leaving after a two week visit. She of course was sad that she was leaving. But on thing that cheered her up was the picture of her and her girlfriend on her phone lock screen. Then it hit me why I love photography. I love documenting moments that would otherwise be lost in history. I love being able to tell a story with photos instead of having to explain it. I love the fact that a photo can cheer someone up. Most importantly, I love how photos help you never forget moments. I often think of the happy wedding couple looking through their photo album and smiling remembering all the moments that happened that day, or the feeling of nostalgia you get when you look at a photo from a great time you had. Photos are more than just pixels, they are a living thing. A piece of history.

Live. Love. Laugh.
